Our Mission

ImageThe Center for Southern Folklore is a non-profit organization celebrating the arts, music and heritage of the South from the cultural crossroads of Memphis.

In the early 1970s we began talking with, learning from - documenting in film and sound - men and women whose knowledge and experiences were fast disappearing from the Memphis and Delta region.  With our first documentary films, programs and festivals we began to share and show these voices with many audiences. We've been growing ever since.
