Saturday Nights means Music in the Folklore Store. On Saturday night long time friends of the Center,
Blind Mississippi Morris and Brad Webb, deliver their distinctive brand
of authentic Delta Blues. Clarksdale native Blind Mississippi Morris was schooled on the harmonica at an early age by cousins Robert and Mary Diggs of the legendary Mississippi Sheiks and his aunt Mary Tanner of the gospel group, The Harps of Melody. Over the years, Morris has gained recognition by Bluzharp magazine as one of the ten best harmonica players in the world.
His partner, guitarist Brad Webb, grew up in Memphis absorbing the
sounds of many of the great musicians from this region including the
likes of Furry Lewis, Bukka White, Fred McDowell and Lee Baker of Moloch and Mud Boy and the Neutrons
fame. For over 20 years Brad and Morris have traveled far and wide
spreading their style of high energy blues all over the United States
and Europe. And there's no better place to experience them up close
and personal than the intimate Folklore Store. For more information, check out: http://www.bradwebb.com/blindmississippimorris.html Beer and light food avaiable while you listen... Admission just $5.00 -- or become a CSF member and use a voucher. |
