MUSIC FOR LUNCH!
The music is free and you can bring your own lunch or buy ours - every Thursday & Friday 12-1 ! 8/21 Thursday: Mike Darby & The House of Cards Rock and Blues
Mike Darby and the House of Cards Band started out playing late night gigs in 2007 in a small New Orleans bar called Check-Point Charlie on Saturdays. Since they didn't come on until at least until 2 a.m., locals referred to this madness as "Darby till Dawn" or "Sunday School with Reverend Mike Darby." Playing these late night gigs turned out to be a big plus in the band's development. As drummer Tony Frickey points out, "There was a lot of freedom playin' at Checks, and we had time to get our chops up and work out the songs." In the past couple of years their mix of hard rock, blues and traditional New Orleans jazz has established Mike Darby and the House of Cards as one of the Crescent City's favorite bar bands.
