MUSIC FOR LUNCH!
The music is free and you can bring your own lunch or buy ours - every Thursday & Friday 12-1 ! 10/01 Thursday: Slidin' Clyde Roulette Blues & Rock
So
how does an Ojibwe Indian originally from Canada make the leap from
Manitoba to Memphis bluesman? For Slidin' Clyde Roulette it all goes
back to the womb, something we all have in common. As Clyde puts it,
"The whole time your mother carried you in the womb you heard it. It's
a rhythm we use in our Pow-wows, since our creation, since we came on
scene. It's what we use and call "the round dance" what today would be
called by blues musicians a "shuffle." While living in Memphis, Clyde
has played on Beale Street, got a house gig at Willie Mitchell's
Legends and performed with the likes of Memphis' Hollywood All Stars, Miss Brown Sugar, Stax recording artist J. Blackfoot, Little Howling Wolf (Howling Wolf's son) and the legendary Big Joe Turner. From Delta Blues to the funkiest Memphis groove to the Orange Blossom Special, he plays it all on his slide guitar - "Clyde Roulette style."
