Get ready for an
evening of an evening of foot-stomping, old-time country, bluegrass and gospel
tunes as The Center for Southern Folklore presents Lisa Lambert &
The Pine Ridge Boys Saturday night, March 20. Showtime is 9:00 p.m.
Admission is $5.00. The Folklore Store is located at 123 S. Main @ the Peabody
Place Trolley Stop in the heart of downtown Memphis.
For many years, Lisa Lambert and her musical partner Scott Nunley
have kept alive the spirit of real, down-home traditional country music.
Members of The Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education, Lisa and Scott are
veteran performers, both as a duo and as members of the bluegrass gospel band, The
Sparks Family Singers. Lisa is a classically trained pianist who has been
playing the guitar since age 8. She also plays a mean fiddle and steel
guitar. Scott Nunley plays the harmonica, mandolin, and autoharp. Both sing
leads and harmonies. Their varied music interests include blues, bluegrass,
western swing, country, jazz, old time, gospel, and Americana.
The Pine Ridge Boys were an area sensation during the 1940s and 1950s.
In early 2007, the surviving members of the original band (Bryan Sparks, Leon
Shots, Nolan Wells, and Dolan Taylor) resurrected The Pine Ridge Boys &
added some "new blood" (Curly Ward, Lynn Grissom, & Brandon Sparks).
They successfully burst back on the music scene with two new CD's:
"Precious Memories" and "The Pine Ridge Boys 2nd Album."
Always eager for a new challenge, The Pine Ridge Boys agreed to join Lisa and
Scott in some new CD projects and a road show. Mixing gospel and secular
bluegrass music ‑ sprinkled with a little blues, jazz, and real country
music ‑ the band puts a new twist on forgotten classics. In the process,
they've unearthed a new audience for this old-timey music. Not only
that, but they're lots of fun too! To sample their music, check out: http://lisalambertmusic.com/
