Hello Blues
Fans!
Since 1980, The Blues
Foundation has been presenting the Blues Music
Awards . You may know them by another name (for about ten years
they were called the Handy Awards), but what has been constant is that the Blues
Music Awards in Memphis is the most important event of the year in blues music.
Why? Because of the much coveted awards. Because of the performances by
today's top bluesmen and women. Because of the vibe created when 1500 blues
musicians and fans get together to celebrate the best of the
best.
Blues fans around the
world know this year's show is Thursday, May 5 at the Cook Convention Center.
They know that tickets are on sale now online HERE! They know the party begins at 5:30pm and continues to about 1:00am and includes
a reception, dinner and silent auction, as well as 26 awards, 25 separate
performances and attendance by about 75 Blues Music Award nominees and Blues
Hall of Fame members. They know how much FUN it is to see, hear, sit with, be
photographed with or get an autograph from your favorite blues
star!
The Blues Foundation
has been in the news a bit recently with our purchase of a new home on South
Main, our reaching 4000 members and the hugely successful International Blues
Challenge. We invite you to come see what started it all-the Blues Music
Awards.
I invite you to
re-introduce yourself to this world class musical event occurring each May in
downtown Memphis. There are still plenty of good seats and tables of ten
available. That may not be true a month from now. Get that good seat before
someone from Portland or Poland, Toronto or Tampa does. Go online today to
order your tickets. Individual tickets are $125 and tables begin at $1200. You
will not be disappointed
Who will be
performing? Blues Music nominees. The best in the business. That is all you
really need to know. Trust me. You can, however, check out a recent Blues
Music Awards by getting a DVD from one of our past four shows HERE .
