Daddy Mack Blues Band
Daddy Mack Daddy Mack & Company returns to the Center's stage after traveling extensively throughout the South through August and September. Mack's shows give Memphians and visitors a chance to hear outstanding urban blues musicians is a small intimate venue. The venue is smoke free and friendly to an all-age audience.Though it's hard to believe, Daddy Mack didn't seriously start
playing guitar until he was well into his 40s. When venerable Memphis
blues band, The Fieldstones
needed someone to fill in for a night, Mack was in the right place at
the right time. Mack so impressed them, they kept him on for years
until he eventually formed his own Daddy Mack Blues Band in the
1990s.
Through
three albums and extensive tours of the U.S. and Europe, Mack and his
crew have spread the word that the blues is still alive and well in
Memphis. Mack was recently honored by the Mississippi Blues
Commission with a marker on the Blues Trail in his hometown
of Como. He joins a long line of distinguished Mississippi blues
performers such as Son House, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Muddy
Waters, Skip James, Bukka White, John Lee Hooker, Fred McDowell and
B. B. King. Catch this living blues legend up close and personal at
the intimate Folklore Store in the heart of downtown Memphis.
