Where can a discerning shopper go this season and expect to find pottery from Memphis artist Lisa Hudson, a Frank Lilly painting, an autographed book, some local barbeque seasoning, and a photo of the late Rufus Thomas in his Funky Chicken best -- all under one roof? At the Folklore Store, of course.
The Center for Southern Folklore will host a "Shop the Lore" open house at its downtown Memphis store on Saturday, December 3. The event takes place between noon and 5:00, is free, and open to the public. Live music will be featured throughout the afternoon.
The Center's Main Street store is a gallery of original and unique art -- all of which is for sale -- that also offers a wide variety of one-of-a-kind and collectible items.
In addition, Memphis author Robert Hastings will be on hand at 3:00 to autograph copies of his latest novel, Back When Mary Alice Was Still a Blonde, a tongue-in-cheek tale about two bickering southern sisters trying to overcome their differences long enough to plan their mother's funeral.
