In
an era where so much of R&B
and Hip-Hop music has veered
farther away from its roots, it really is a treat to find musicians who
preserve the best parts of both genres- soul.
Memphian and Soul Man Willie
Firecracker, along with brother and crooner Shaun Champagne, will take the stage at Center for Southern Folklore Store on Saturday December 17th at 8pm for a performance aptly
titled The Soul Flow Show. Willie Firecracker
With
local music veteran Willie Firecracker leading the way,
these multi-talented brothers combine hard-hitting raps and vocals with
stirring lyrics to detail life's ups and downs as well as growing up in Riverside, a neighborhood in South Memphis. And though they
deem their sound Grown Folks Music,
they always ensure that their messages are positive and uplifting, focusing on
relevant issues and sometimes offering solutions. One such song entitled Dream Killers and performed by Shaun
Champagne speaks to the importance of reaching for one's dreams, despite
any naysayers who may be present. All in all, these artists are sure to
give a performance that is heartfelt, sometimes raw, and always full of Memphis soul. |
