One of the surest signs that spring is near is the return of live music Saturday nights to the Center for Southern Folklore Store. On Saturday night, February 28, long time friends of the Center, Blind Mississippi Morris and Brad Webb deliver their distinctive brand of authentic Delta Blues. Showtime is 9:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00. The Center for Southern Folklore Store is located at 123 S. Main Street @ The Peabody Place Trolley Stop in the heart of downtown Memphis. Clarksdale native Blind Mississippi Morris was schooled on the harmonica at an early age by cousins Robert and Mary Diggs of the legendary Mississippi Sheiks and his aunt Mary Tanner of the gospel group, The Harps of Melody. Over the years, Morris has gained recognition by Bluzharp magazine as one of the ten best harmonica players in the world. His partner, guitarist Brad Webb, grew up in Memphis absorbing the sounds of many of the great musicians from this region including the likes of Furry Lewis, Bukka White, Fred McDowell and Lee Baker of Moloch and Mud Boy and the Neutrons fame. For over 20 years Brad and Morris have traveled far and wide spreading their style of high energy blues all over the United States and Europe. And there's no better place to experience them up close and personal than the intimate Folklore Store. For more information, check out: http://www.bradwebb.com/blindmississippimorris.html |
