    A picture tells a thousand words. Our artists have a lot to say and we think they say it well. Folk art is not only a piece of art it’s a piece of cultural history. At the Memphis Music & Heritage Festival crowds are encouraged to interact with the artists.

 

  Long before we heard the word “recycling,” Memphis/Mid-South crafts people were taught the value of taking unused bits of cloth, wood, metal or leather and create objects that were both useful and ornamental. Whether it’s a pillow or a quilt made from velvet Crown Royal bags or colorful paintings decorated with bottle caps, our artists pride themselves on creating beautiful artwork.
