This is a photograph of the Old Daisy Theatre on Beale Street in the 1940s. During segregation there were many theatres like the Old Daisy that catered to African-American audiences. At the beginning, when movies were still new to the community, these theatres drew audiences by presenting live traveling and local musical shows such as the Midnight Rambles prior to the movies.
